About us

IFEMED Journal Club is the Official Journal Club of the Obafemi Awolowo Medical Students’ Association. We are involved in hosting journal club activities, research education for medical students and article publishing in our IFEMED Journal.

Since its inception in 1975, the journal club has proved to be worthy of its repute by an unrelenting effort in publishing scientific journals on topical issues in contemporary healthcare.

As of today, we have 26 volumes of the journal spanning across 47 years under selected themes including:

The IFEMED Journal Club is an organ of the Obafemi Awolowo University Medical Students’ Association, IFUMSA. You can check out the history of the Club here to get to know us better. You can also check out the activities of the Club here.

Membership of the IFEMED Journal Club is opened only to students in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences of the Obafemi Awolowo University. Once in the academic session, we call for applications to be submitted.

Traditionally, all applicants are to fill out a form, submit two academic articles and participate in an interview process after which the Editorial members decide on whom to admit into the club.

Very recent articles published in the Journal are available on Academia; suffice to say that articles in the Journal are widely cited globally due to our high impact publications. Presently, we rank in the top 2% of all publications on Academia globally.

The Campus Doctor is an arm of IFEMED saddled with publishing original research articles and more recently, systematic reviews in the IFEMED journal. The Campus Doctor also publishes plagiarism-free, easy-to-understand articles every month that can be accessed here.

Individuals particularly healthcare workers are invited to send in their articles for publication. However, do check out the notice to contributors to ensure that your articles conform with our guidelines.

The journal is published once in an academic session and each edition has a unique theme.
